Social Development officials conduct field inspections in Magallanes

The Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Social Development and Family is conducting field inspections in the communes of Punta Arenas and Natales to verify data within the Social Household Registry (RSH). The primary goal is to ensure state benefits are accurately targeted to those in need.

Supervision efforts are specifically focusing on families receiving subsidies for drinking water and sewage services, as well as recipients of higher education scholarships. Officials are performing random home visits to confirm that applicants actually reside in the households associated with their registry information. Jenniffer Rojas García, the regional secretary, noted that the diverse housing reality in Magallanes, where one address may contain multiple households, makes detecting inconsistencies essential to prevent eligible people from being excluded.

To ensure security, inspectors are required to wear corporate clothing and display institutional credentials. Additionally, the RSH team recently participated in an operation at the University of Magallanes to assist students with updating their socioeconomic data in preparation for the upcoming accreditation process.
