Social Distortion marks 30 years of ‘White Light, White Heat, White Trash’

The punk rock band Social Distortion is marking the 30th anniversary of its fifth studio album, ‘White Light, White Heat, White Trash’. Released on September 17, 1996, the record represented a deliberate return to the band’s punk foundations, moving away from the country and blues influences found in their previous work. Produced by Michael Beinhorn, the album reached No. 27 on the Billboard 200 and achieved significant commercial success, selling 277,000 copies in the United States by the end of 1998.

In a related release, artist Shepard Fairey has announced a limited edition screenprint for the album ‘Born to Kill’. The print, which is signed by both Fairey and frontman Mike Ness, is part of a numbered edition of 550. Fairey, who created the cover art for the album, noted the band’s ability to maintain a vital sound over a career spanning more than 45 years.
