Social eating helps regulate blood sugar levels

A study published in the journal Science Advances suggests that eating meals with family members can help regulate blood sugar levels. Research indicates that individuals who eat with family experience smaller increases in blood sugar compared to those who eat alone, even when consuming high-carbohydrate meals.

Researchers noted that the human body appears to be evolutionarily predisposed to social interaction, utilizing energy to regulate itself more effectively in the presence of loved ones. This social connection may also assist in regulating body temperature and reducing stress. While social presence is not a substitute for medical care, diet, or exercise, it serves as an additional tool for managing blood sugar and reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
