Social economy and cooperative education programs expand in Catalonia

Educational initiatives promoting social economy, cooperatives, and ethical finance are expanding across Catalonia. The CuEmE program, promoted by the Diputación de Barcelona, has reached a milestone of over 100,000 students participating in school cooperatives over the last 15 years. The program focuses on teaching entrepreneurship, collective decision-making, and social responsibility through practical business management.

Additionally, a new collaboration agreement has been established between L’ESSpurna and the Associació Economia Social Catalunya (AESCAT) for the 2026-2027 academic year. This partnership aims to integrate cooperative models and ethical finance into secondary education. By combining resources, the organizations seek to provide students with hands-on experience in managing student-led cooperatives, fostering entrepreneurial and civic competencies.
