Social Economy Awards recognize digital sovereignty and cooperative housing

The tenth edition of the Social Economy Awards, organized by the Roca Galès Foundation, has recognized six academic works addressing contemporary social and economic challenges. Key themes include cooperative housing as a tool for rural revitalization, alternatives to technological dependence on large digital corporations, and community economy experiences in Palestinian territories.

Notable winners include Caio Gonçalves Ferreira from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, whose work examines how the cooperative housing model can attract and retain populations in rural areas. Additionally, a collective research project by Safae Benmoussa and Matteo Ravazzolo from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona was awarded for its analysis of digital sovereignty and the feasibility of implementing platform cooperativism within the Catalan social and solidarity economy.
