Social enterprises expand employment for people with disabilities in Vietnam

Social enterprises in Vietnam are working to strengthen welfare and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Lương Thị Minh Nguyệt, leader of Khát Vọng Social Joint Stock Company, operates a model that provides vocational training and employment for approximately 50 workers with disabilities in handicrafts.

Beyond manual labor, the company offers digital skills training, such as video production and affiliate marketing on platforms like TikTok and Shopee, allowing individuals like Lương Quốc Trung to earn a stable income from home.

Despite progress in social welfare, significant gaps remain in achieving independent living through labor. Current discussions suggest a need for improved state support mechanisms, such as direct subsidies for workplace modifications (ramps, specialized equipment) and social insurance assistance, to encourage more businesses to hire workers with disabilities.
