Social equity and housing challenges discussed in Brazil

In a recent AbraCast episode, Margareth Goldenberg, executive director of Movimento Mulher 360, discussed the challenges of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the corporate sector. Goldenberg highlighted how identity markers and ageism continue to hinder women's professional advancement. She noted that large companies increasingly view gender equity and diverse perspectives as economic imperatives that drive innovation and results, rather than just legal requirements.

Separately, Marina Saraiva, a psychologist and coordinator at Centro Pop, addressed the complexities of homelessness. She emphasized that providing housing is a critical priority for social reintegration, citing the ‘housing first’ model used in countries like Finland as a potential reference. Saraiva noted that addressing homelessness requires an integrated approach involving mental health support, addiction treatment, and social inclusion to help individuals rebuild their lives and autonomy.
