Social Housing Fund launches electronic clearance service in Egypt

The Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund in Egypt has launched a new electronic service to issue clearance certificates for residential units. Announced by Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, the initiative aims to streamline procedures by eliminating the need for physical travel and paper-based transactions for citizens seeking proof of full payment for their housing units.

Mai Abdel Hamid, CEO of the Social Housing and Mortgage Finance Fund, stated that this move is part of a broader effort to digitize all fund services to enhance transparency and convenience. This follows the recent launch of other digital services, including accelerated payment and ownership transfer.

To use the service, citizens must create an account on the fund's official portal using a mobile phone number to receive an OTP verification code. Applicants are required to upload several documents in PDF format, including the original clearance from the financing entity, the unit handover report, the mortgage or installment contract, and national ID copies. In cases of death, inheritance documents and legal approvals for minors are also required. Once submitted, relevant departments will review the documents and notify the client of any outstanding fees, such as maintenance or clearance processing costs, via SMS.
