Social housing initiatives expand support for youth and people with disabilities in Poland
New social housing initiatives are expanding support for vulnerable populations in the Płock region of Poland.
In Płock, the company Orlen has donated three apartments to the city to assist foster care youth. These training apartments allow young people transitioning out of foster care to live semi-independently for two to three years. Under the guidance of specialists, residents learn essential life skills such as budgeting, household management, and navigating administrative tasks to prepare for full autonomy.
Additionally, in the Nowy Duninów municipality, a supported housing community called ‘Przystań’ has been established in Brwilno Dolne. Developed by the Association for People with Autism ‘Odzyskać więzi’ and funded by PFRON, the facility consists of 12 studio apartments. The project provides adults with significant disabilities 24/7 care and therapeutic support while allowing them to maintain privacy and independence within their own homes.
