Social initiative expands to combat loneliness in Spain

A social initiative founded in León, Spain, by Marta Autillo is expanding to Ponferrada to address social isolation. Originally started in 2022, the project aims to help individuals expand their social circles through simple activities like sharing coffee or conversation.

The initiative has grown significantly, now managing nine groups in León with memberships ranging from 30 to 90 people. Some groups operate autonomously using digital tools like the TimeTree calendar to organize activities. Autillo describes her role as facilitating connections so that people do not remain alone, rather than creating a permanent dependency on the groups.
