For disinfecting frequently handled objects like keys, a mixture of white vinegar and 70% alcohol is suggested. This solution helps dissolve grease and reduce microbial loads, though experts note it is a domestic hygiene measure rather than a professional disinfectant.

To address unpleasant sink odors caused by buildup in drains, cleaning specialist Lynsey Crombie (alias "Queen of Clean") suggests using a portable steam cleaner. Directing a jet of steam into the drain can quickly loosen grease and debris trapped in the pipes, offering a faster alternative to traditional baking soda and vinegar methods.
