Social media helps reunite families with lost pets

Social media platforms have played a critical role in the recovery of lost pets in recent incidents. In Ottawa, a six-year-old cat named Trippy escaped from her carrier while being picked up for adoption from the Ottawa Humane Society. After a two-week search, she was located at a residence four kilometers away following a Facebook post. The recovery occurred just before a significant drop in temperature in the region.

In a separate case, a Nebelung cat named Turtle was reunited with his family in Connecticut after being missing for 571 days. After vanishing from a home in Greenwich, the cat was identified via microchip in Mamaroneck, New York, following a social media post. Despite local efforts involving surveillance cameras, the cat was not captured until he was found in a different state.
