The Social Security Administration will move the August 2026 Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment from the weekend date of August 1 to Friday, July 31. As a result, SSI recipients will receive two payments in July—one on July 1 and another on July 31—and no separate deposit will appear in August. The change impacts roughly 7 million Americans who receive SSI, a federal benefit for low‑income seniors, disabled, and blind individuals. Beneficiaries do not lose a month of benefits; the August payment is simply issued one day early.

The maximum federal SSI benefit for 2026 remains $994 for an individual and $1,491 for a couple. Some households may find budgeting more difficult because there will be no August cash inflow. The regular SSI payment schedule resumes in September, as September 1 falls on a Tuesday. Additional calendar adjustments are planned later in the year, such as an early October 30 payment for November SSI benefits because November 1 lands on a Sunday.

These administrative timing changes affect nationwide recipients but do not alter the benefit amounts or eligibility criteria.
