Social security agencies in Cameroon and Gabon modernize pensioner services
Social security institutions in Cameroon and Gabon are implementing new measures to manage pensioner benefits and modernize social protection.
In Cameroon, the Caisse Nationale de Prévoyance Sociale (Cnps) has launched an identification campaign for pensioners running from October 1 to December 31, 2026. The process aims to clean up beneficiary files and prevent financial loss due to fraud, such as the substitution of beneficiaries or falsified documents. Identification can be completed in person at Cnps Social Welfare Centers or remotely via the Sapelli AINA mobile application for those previously enrolled. The system utilizes biometric data to ensure that pension rights are paid to legitimate, living recipients.
In Gabon, the regional delegation of the Caisse des Pensions et des Prestations Familiales (CPPF) held the first National Day for Retirees and the Elderly in Oyem. The CPPF is currently undergoing a transformation under its ‘Cap 2030’ program, which focuses on digitalizing processes, diversifying service offerings, and improving governance. Officials noted that recent advancements include the revaluation of pensions and the payment of corresponding arrears to support retiree well-being.
