Social security agencies in Mexico and Panama launch investigations

The institution stated that the footage, which shows staff members handling snacks and sauces, violates institutional values and professional standards. IMSS confirmed it will apply sanctions according to its Code of Conduct if misconduct is proven and pledged to increase supervision to prevent similar occurrences.

In Panama, the Social Security Fund (CSS) is investigating a case of potential identity fraud after a citizen, Julissa Morales, discovered discrepancies in her employment history. Through the ‘Mi Retiro Seguro’ platform, Morales found records indicating she had worked for the National Assembly throughout 2023 with an annual salary of $4,933.30, despite never having been employed by that entity. The CSS is collaborating with authorities to determine responsibility and will file criminal complaints if irregularities are confirmed, noting that the digital platform successfully served its purpose in detecting such inconsistencies.
