Social Security beneficiaries may see nearly $200 monthly increase in 2027

Projections suggest the 2027 Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) could be approximately 3.8%, according to estimates from The Senior Citizens League (TSCL).

If this estimate holds, the maximum monthly benefit of $5,181 could increase by nearly $197 to approximately $5,378. For those receiving the average retirement benefit of $2,084, the increase would be roughly $79, bringing the total to about $2,163 per month.

The official COLA for 2027 will not be announced by the Social Security Administration until October 14, once the final necessary data is available. Beneficiaries will receive personalized notices in December, which will also include updated Medicare Part B premium deductions.
