Social Security error leaves 95-year-old woman without pension for nine months

A 95-year-old woman in Albufeira has gone nine months without receiving her social security payments due to a technical error. The issue began following the death of her husband, which triggered her eligibility for a survivor's pension.

In addition to the pension, the woman's Solidarity Supplement for the Elderly (Complemento Solidário para Idosos) was also withheld. Her family reports that the total unpaid amount exceeds 6,000 euros. Social Security has acknowledged the situation, attributing the delay to an ‘exceptional’ application-related constraint that blocked the processing of approved payments. The entity expects the situation to be regularized in September.
