Social Security Office offers disaster relief for Section 33 workers

The Social Security Office has announced compensation measures for Section 33 insured persons affected by natural disasters. Individuals who are unable to commute to work or whose employers have been forced to temporarily close operations due to such disasters and are not receiving wages are eligible to apply for unemployment benefits due to force majeure.

Eligible persons can receive income compensation at a rate of 50% of their daily wage for a maximum of 90 days per instance. The benefit period begins from the date the individual is unable to work or the employer ceases operations without providing wages.

To claim benefits, insured persons must prepare a claim form (SSO 2-01/7), an unemployment certification letter from their employer, and a copy of their savings account passbook if they have not linked PromptPay to their national ID. Employers are required to issue a certification letter regarding the force majeure event. Applications can be submitted to local Social Security offices, with forms available on the official website.
