Social Security Organization expands maternity benefits in Iran
The Social Security Organization of Iran is implementing support measures for insured pregnant women in accordance with the Family Support and Youth Population Law. Key benefits include the extension of maternity leave from six to nine months and the provision of monthly salary payments during this period.
Under current regulations, mothers can utilize up to two months of their nine-month maternity leave prior to the birth of the child. The organization is responsible for paying salaries and related allowances for the full nine-month duration. To ensure financial stability, the organization must report projected costs to the Plan and Budget Organization annually; if funds are not allocated, these costs are treated as government debt to the Social Security Organization.
Between the year 1400 and the end of September 1405, approximately 235,000 eligible women have benefited from these facilities.
