Social Security Organization forms task force for Iranian retirees
Gholamhossein Mohammadi, the acting head of Iran’s Social Security Organization, has announced the immediate formation of a working group to address the issues and challenges facing retirees and pensioners. The primary focus of the organization remains the management of resources to ensure the timely payment of pensions and the provision of medical services.
Regarding healthcare, the organization is prioritizing the resolution of supplementary health insurance issues through negotiations with contracted companies. To settle outstanding payments from previous supplementary insurance contracts, a combination of cash and non-cash solutions will be utilized. Additionally, debts owed to university medical centers are scheduled to be settled by the end of 2025, while payments to private medical centers and pharmacies are ongoing. Payments to centers under the Ministry of Health will be managed through a mix of cash and securities.
To increase the purchasing power of retirees, the organization plans to implement a digital wallet scheme, which will initially be piloted in a single province to enhance credit network capabilities.
