Social Security retirement and pension consultation processes

In Spain, citizens can use the Social Security website to estimate their retirement age and projected pension amounts via SMS. To use this service, the user's mobile number must be registered in the Social Security database. The process requires providing a national ID, date of birth, and the registered mobile number to receive a security code. This simulator allows users to see how changes in their work life, such as periods of unemployment or different contribution bases, might affect their future pension.

In Mexico, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) requires workers to verify their contribution weeks and specific legal regime to determine pension eligibility. Requirements differ based on whether the first contribution was made before or after July 1, 1997. Under the 1973 Law, workers need at least 500 weeks of contributions, while those under the 1997 Law face a gradual increase in required weeks, reaching 1,000 by 2031.
