Social Security System implements multi-year pension increases

The Social Security System (SSS) is implementing a multi-year Pension Reform Program designed to provide scheduled increases to retirement, disability, death, and survivor pensions between 2025 and 2027.

Under the program, retirement and disability pensions receive a 10% annual increase, while death and survivor pensions receive a 5% annual increase. For 2026, the second tranche of increases was accelerated, with approximately 4.1 million elderly beneficiaries receiving additional benefits starting June 1, 2026. This rollout, totaling about ₱6 billion, was intended to provide early relief against inflation and rising energy costs.

The third tranche of the reform is scheduled for release on September 1, 2027, for pensioners qualifying as of August 31, 2027. Additionally, the SSS continues to manage contribution schedules for voluntary members to ensure continued access to social insurance benefits, including maternity, sickness, and various loan programs.
