Social Security to implement mandatory digital notifications in September

New Social Security regulations set to take effect on September 1, 2026, will mandate that all communications regarding benefits and procedures be sent exclusively via the internet. This shift eliminates paper correspondence, a move intended to digitalize processes and reduce paper usage.

The change significantly impacts millions of citizens, including workers on sick leave or those with disabilities. Approximately 1.2 million people currently on sick leave will receive notifications solely online. To ensure timely receipt, citizens must maintain updated personal profiles on the Social Security platform, including valid telephone numbers and email addresses.

Under the new rules, digital notifications are available for 10 calendar days. If a user fails to access the communication within this period, the notification may be considered rejected, allowing procedural steps to continue without the citizen's direct involvement. This digital requirement extends to various tracks and benefits, including instances where citizens must submit documents, observations, or appeals.
