Social security updates announced for pensioners in Paraguay and Chile
Social security institutions in Paraguay and Chile have announced new updates regarding pensioner benefits and data management.
In Paraguay, the Instituto de Previsión Social (IPS) will launch a mandatory digital census for retirees and pensioners starting September 7, 2026. The virtual process, which runs until December 7, aims to modernize services and update beneficiary information, including addresses, contact details, and family data. IPS stated that assistance will be provided for elderly individuals facing technological difficulties to ensure the process remains accessible.
In Chile, the IPS Aysén regional office is calling on pensioners receiving benefits under reparation laws who are aged 75 or older to apply for the Pensión Garantizada Universal (PGU). Officials emphasized that this benefit is not automatic and requires a formal application through IPS or ChileAtiende branches to improve the quality of life for eligible citizens.
