Social sports projects offer free martial arts in Brazil

Social sports projects are expanding access to martial arts in Brazil through free programs in Palmas and Campo Grande.

In Palmas, the Associação AICCF is offering limited free Jiu-Jitsu classes for residents over the age of 14 in the Taquari region. Led by instructor Heli de Souza Guimarães Junior, the initiative aims to use the sport to foster discipline, respect, and emotional control while providing an accessible alternative to private academies.

In Campo Grande, the ‘Projeto Ajudou’ has 40 free judo vacancies available for children at Parque Tarsila do Amaral. Operating during after-school hours, the program focuses on character development and healthy habits. Supported by the Lei de Incentivo ao Esporte, Instituto Motiva, and Motiva Pantanal, the project is scheduled to run until July 2027.
