Social subsidy programs activated in Colombia and Dominican Republic

In Colombia, the National Association of Family Compensation Funds (Asocajas) announced that up to 550,000 million pesos will be mobilized to support recovery following the earthquake on August 10. Under government decrees issued during the economic emergency, these funds will be distributed through two main channels: approximately 90,000 million pesos via the FOSFEC fund to provide economic protection to unemployed workers, and between 370,000 and 460,000 million pesos via the FOVIS fund to finance housing repairs, improvements, and rental subsidies.

In the Dominican Republic, the Supérate program continues to serve as the primary non-contributory social protection strategy to reduce poverty. Managed by the Social Subsidy Administrator (ADESS), the program includes various subsidies such as Aliméntate for food, Bonogás Hogar for cooking gas, and Bonoluz for electricity costs. Access to these benefits requires a socioeconomic evaluation of the household to determine eligibility.
