Social welfare initiatives led by first ladies in Brazil

First ladies in Brazil are spearheading regional social welfare and vocational training initiatives. In Ribeirão Pires, São Paulo, Cristiane Freitas, president of the State Social Fund, visited the ‘Caminho da Capacitação’ mobile unit. This partnership between the municipal and state governments provides free professional courses, such as baking and pizza making, to promote employment and income generation.

In Manaus, Amazonas, Thaisa Cidade, president of the Social Promotion and Poverty Eradication Fund, participated in the ‘Governo Presente’ program in the Cidade Nova neighborhood. The initiative centralizes various state services, offering free healthcare consultations, medical exams, social assistance, and entrepreneurship guidance. The program also facilitates access to documentation, housing services, and financial aid programs like ‘Crédito Solidário’ and ‘Crédito Rosa’ to support local residents.
