Socialist Party deputies evaluate public housing investments in Portugal

Socialist Party (PS) deputies are conducting a national listening program to assess public housing investments and identify regional needs across Portugal. The initiative aims to gather input for developing a future housing strategy.

In Vila Real, deputy Rui Santos visited the Bairro do Centenário, advocating for the continued replication of public housing projects to combat rising prices. He noted that the project was funded by the previous government using Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) funds and executed by the Vila Real City Council.

In Vinhais, deputy Júlia Rodrigues inspected social housing in Bairro do Calvário. Local authorities reported that approximately one million euros in PRR funding has enabled the recovery of ten homes, with three more under construction. Additional interventions in Bairro da Ucha, valued at 700,000 euros, are also nearing completion. These renovations focus on improving thermal comfort in homes built over 30 years ago.
