Socialist Party of Serbia officials resign following Ružić exclusion

Multiple officials have resigned from the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) following the exclusion of Branko Ružić, a prominent party figure.

Mateja Ranković, a member of the SPS Main Committee, resigned from all party positions, including roles in the youth organization and the Čukarica municipal committee. Ranković stated that the exclusion of Ružić compromised the party’s dignity and integrity, alleging that leadership is prioritizing personal interests over the party and its members. Ranković further claimed that party bodies have become mere formalities used to justify decisions lacking legality or legitimacy through methods such as censorship and threats.

In a separate development, Branko Prodanović resigned from his positions as President of the Municipal Committee in Zubin Potok and as a member of the SPS Main Committee. Prodanović cited a loss of political independence, claiming the SPS has become subordinate to the interests of the Serbian Progressive Party. The SPS Provincial Committee for Kosovo and Metohija noted that Prodanović’s resignation preceded planned changes within the local municipal committee.
