Socialist Union of Popular Forces leader questions candidate selection criteria

Manal Et-taqal, a member of the Political Bureau of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP), has sent a formal letter to party leader Idriss Lachgar questioning the criteria used for selecting female candidates for regional list positions.

Et-taqal raised concerns regarding whether merit, competence, and political struggle remain the primary standards for selection, or if financial contributions have become a decisive factor. She argued that requiring high or ‘imaginary’ financial amounts from female candidates creates a financial barrier that undermines equal opportunity and political participation.

The letter suggests that such practices transform political participation into a privilege for those with significant financial means, rather than a right based on competence and integrity. Et-taqal called for transparency regarding the selection process and urged the party leadership to clarify the role of financial contributions to ensure the credibility of the party's organizational decisions.
