Socialist Union of Popular Forces leader resigns over endorsement disputes

Raja El Bekkali Tahiri has resigned from all her positions within the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP), including her membership in the political bureau and the party's women's organization. In her resignation letter addressed to First Secretary Driss Lachgar, she cited the exclusion of female activists from fair competition for legislative election endorsements.

Tahiri criticized the party's selection process, alleging a lack of transparency and the absence of clear criteria for choosing candidates. She claimed the process favored individuals lacking local or national political presence and noted the influence of money in securing endorsements. Furthermore, she expressed concern over the removal of requirements regarding party tenure and organizational or union responsibilities that had been previously agreed upon.

The resignation follows the decision not to endorse her as a regional candidate for the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, despite her father receiving an endorsement for the Chefchaouen province.
