Sociedad Cántabra de Escritores to honor Augusto González de Linares

The Sociedad Cántabra de Escritores is organizing the IV Homenaje de la Sociedad Cántabra de Escritores to Augusto González de Linares. The event is scheduled to take place at the Ecomuseo de Valle de Cabuérniga in Cantabria on August 18, 20, and 21, 2026.

The commemoration highlights the legacy of González de Linares, a figure central to the Spanish ‘Silver Age’. He is noted for the conception of the Institución Libre de Enseñanza in his birthplace, Valle de Cabuérniga, in August 1875. The tribute also references the scientific contributions of Leonardo Torres Quevedo and includes the presentation of a bust dedicated to González de Linares, the father of Spanish marine biology.
