Sociedad Rural Argentina condemns acquittal of union leader
The Sociedad Rural Argentina has expressed strong repudiation regarding a recent judicial ruling that acquitted union leader Maximiliano Cabaleyro. Cabaleyro, the head of the San Nicolás, San Pedro, and Ramallo regional branch, had been accused of blocking the facilities of Rey Distribución SRL and demanding money from its owners.
In a statement, the agricultural entity voiced concern that such rulings could weaken respect for the law and fundamental rights. The organization emphasized that while the right to strike and union freedom must be respected, these rights should not be used to infringe upon the rights of third parties, violate the law, or justify violence, extortion, and blockades that impede productive activities.
The Sociedad Rural Argentina further asserted that defending private property, as guaranteed by the National Constitution, is essential for investment, production, and job creation. They maintained that legal certainty and the protection of free movement and the freedom to work are vital pillars for the country’s economic development and democratic society.
