Sociedade Recreativa da Várzea de Sintra produces world skating champions

The Sociedade Recreativa da Várzea de Sintra (SRVS) has achieved significant success in artistic roller skating through a project implemented in 2012. Despite limited media coverage compared to football, the club has developed world-class talent.

Key athletes include 17-year-old Rita Azinheira, a junior world and European champion in free skating, and 16-year-old Matilde Antunes, a two-time Cadet category World Cup champion. Hugo Ricardo Correia, president of the nearly century-old club, highlighted the importance of the club's development project and the essential support of the athletes' families and coaches.
