Societatea de Transport București enters insolvency proceedings

The Bucharest Tribunal has admitted the request for the Societatea de Transport București (STB) to enter insolvency proceedings. This decision follows a previous rejection in August due to insufficient documentation.

According to Bucharest Mayor Ciprian Ciucu, the move is intended to save the company, which has accumulated debts exceeding 3 billion lei. Data indicated that STB ended 2025 with approximately 1.72 billion lei in debt, including roughly 1.49 billion lei owed to ANAF and 402 million lei in penalties.

The court has appointed a provisional judicial administrator consisting of a consortium formed by Euro Insol, Turmac Insolvency, and Ceres Insolv. Creditors have until October 23, 2026, to register their claims. The first general meeting of creditors is scheduled for November 17, with the deadline for finalizing the claims table set for December 7, 2026.
