Society for Family Health transfers Integrate Project to Kano State
The Society for Family Health (SFH) has officially handed over its Integrate Project to the Kano State Government. The initiative, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, focused on strengthening the capacity of community healthcare providers to ensure the sustainable delivery of essential services.
As part of the project, more than 6,500 Patent and Proprietary Medicine Vendors (PPMVs) and community pharmacists were trained and mapped across the state. SFH Group Director of Impact, Partnership and Engagement, Dayyabu Mahmoud Yusuf, noted that the project enabled more than 500,000 women and children under the age of five to access care through these trained providers.
Kano State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, commended the partnership and stated that the government is committed to building on these gains by ensuring the continued utilization of the trained personnel to provide quality, people-centered healthcare.
