Society of Catholic Scientists holds congress in Madrid
The V Congress of the Spanish section of the Society of Catholic Scientists (SCCE) will be held at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas-ICADE in Madrid from September 17 to 19. The event features a diverse program covering topics such as medieval origins of modern science, quantum mechanics, cosmology, artificial intelligence, and free software from the perspective of Catholic social doctrine.
A major highlight of this edition is the presentation of two unprecedented sociological studies in Spain. These studies analyze the religious beliefs and practices of the Spanish scientific community, as well as the opinions of science students regarding the relationship between science and religion.
Other sessions will explore historical figures like Hipatia and the physician Francisco Javier Balmis, alongside discussions on the presence of science and faith in cinema, social media, and scientific communication.
