Société Africaine de Raffinage CEO defends management record

Mamadou Abib Diop, Director General of the Société Africaine de Raffinage (SAR), has defended his management record against accusations and concerns raised by staff delegates. Speaking on RFM, Diop reported that the company achieved record profits last year and has already exceeded that figure in the first six months of the current year. He also noted that shareholders have begun receiving dividends.

Addressing tensions regarding recruitment, Diop stated that 80% of recent hires were internal promotions, a level he described as unprecedented. He rejected allegations of favoritism, asserting that recruitment is the prerogative of General Management and the Board of Directors. Diop characterized the criticisms from certain delegates as “blackmail” and suggested that some representatives were overstepping their roles. He emphasized his commitment to ending “old practices” and preserving the company's interests through various ongoing projects, including the creation of the SAR Academy and new administrative infrastructure.
