Socoprim selected to build Abidjan's sixth bridge

Socoprim Abidjan sixth bridge public-private partnership infrastructure development toll bridge

The Ivorian company Socoprim has been selected to construct Abidjan’s sixth bridge, surpassing the Chinese firm China Civil Engineering Construction Corp (CCECC). The project, estimated to cost 200 billion CFA francs (approximately 305 million euros), will span roughly 1.5 km and connect Abatta in Cocody to Koumassi and Port-Bouët.

Operating under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, Socoprim will be responsible for the design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the toll bridge and its associated road links. The infrastructure aims to alleviate traffic congestion in the economic capital by providing an alternative route to southern Abidjan.

Socoprim, which already operates the Henri-Konan-Bédié bridge, was favored due to its experience with the PPP model and its use of local labor and subcontractors. The company’s ownership includes the State of Côte d’Ivoire (18.65%), Africa Finance Corporation (26.02%), and the Pan African Infrastructure Development Fund (26.02%), alongside other investors such as Ivoirienne Infrastructures Routières (19%) and TotalEnergies Côte d’Ivoire (3.78%).
