Socotra political groups meet to discuss governance and unity

Political and administrative developments are underway in the Socotra Archipelago to enhance local governance and unity. The Southern Transitional Council (STC) held its second periodic meeting for September, chaired by Said Omar bin Qablan. The meeting focused on strengthening coordination between local leadership and tribal and social figures to unify efforts, preparing for the 63rd anniversary of the October 14 Revolution, and addressing declining service levels in various sectors.

Simultaneously, the founding general conference of the Consensus Coordination Council was held in Hadibo under the slogan ‘Socotra Unites Us’. Chaired by Governor Raafat Ali Ibrahim Al-Thaqali, the conference included various political, social, and tribal components. The council approved its basic statutes, political vision, and economic priorities concerning fisheries, the environment, tourism, and maritime and air ports. Al-Thaqali was endorsed as the head of the council, with a mandate to complete the formation of its presidency and specialized committees.
