Sodexo to cut 1,097 jobs in France under new strategic plan

Sodexo has announced a restructuring plan in France that involves the elimination of 1,097 jobs. This represents approximately 4% of the company’s 25,000 employees in the country. The cuts include 963 positions within Sodexo France and 134 roles at the corporate headquarters in Issy-les-Moulineaux.

The company is implementing its ‘Shift & Grow 2030’ strategic plan, which aims to increase competitiveness and investment capacity in the face of heightened market competition and evolving consumer expectations. Sodexo intends to invest nearly 1 billion euros by 2030 in digital innovation and market expansion. CEO Thierry Delaporte previously noted that the company had under-invested in skills and faced inconsistencies in service deployment.

Labor unions have reacted strongly to the announcement. Éric Villecroze of the FO union described the news as a ‘true earthquake,’ while the CGT union called the decision ‘unacceptable,’ arguing that employees should not bear the consequences of strategic choices while the company remains profitable. The plan will include a phase of voluntary departures before moving forward with the job protection plan.
