Sodra implements plain language project to simplify client communications

Sodra is implementing a project titled ‘Let’s Write to Clients Simply’ to reduce bureaucratic language and improve the clarity of official correspondence. The initiative aims to ensure that letters sent to clients are understandable, respectful, and precise.

As part of this project, the institution has established guidelines for drafting documents using plain language. Over 1,900 Sodra specialists have participated in training sessions on this communication method. Additionally, more than 100 sample letters and templates have been prepared, and a memorandum of standardized terms has been created to ensure consistent communication across the organization.

Project leader Vaiva Vasiliauskienė stated that staff are instructed to avoid unnecessary information, complex legal structures, and excessive calculations unless requested. The goal is to ensure clients immediately understand what has been decided, why, and what actions they need to take, which is expected to reduce the volume of follow-up inquiries to the institution.
