Sodra warns of fraudulent SMS messages targeting residents
Sodra, the Lithuanian State Social Insurance Fund, has issued a warning regarding fraudulent SMS messages being sent to residents. Scammers are impersonating the institution by claiming that individuals have outstanding social insurance contributions.
The fraudulent messages often lack Lithuanian characters and contain links that visually mimic official websites. These links direct users to malicious pages designed to steal sensitive information, including personal data, electronic banking credentials, and account login details.
Sodra advises citizens not to click on suspicious links, open attachments, or provide financial or personal information via SMS. To verify their status safely, residents are encouraged to manually type the official website address into their browsers rather than using links provided in messages. Official Sodra email addresses always end in @sodra.lt, and the institution does not request bank transfers or PIN codes via SMS.
