Sofía Clerici dismissed in Yategate money laundering case

Judge Luis Armella has dismissed the charges against model Sofía Clerici in the judicial investigation known as ‘Yategate’. Clerici was being investigated for her alleged role as a front for former official Martín Insaurralde in a money laundering case.

A forensic accounting report conducted by an official expert from the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation found no evidence of financial transfers or documents linking Insaurralde to Clerici’s assets. While authorities previously seized US$569,911 in cash and various luxury items from her residence in Nordelta, the investigation failed to establish a connection between those funds and Insaurralde’s economic activities.

The case originated from social media images showing Clerici on the yacht ‘El Bandido’ during a trip to Marbella, Spain, in September 2023. Although the dismissal clears her of the specific connection to Insaurralde, Judge Armella ordered that her individual financial inconsistencies be sent to the San Isidro courts to be investigated in a separate, independent proceeding.
