Sofía Ovalles wins bronze at World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships

Fourteen-year-old Argentine swimmer Sofía Ovalles won a bronze medal in the 5km women's category (ages 14-15) at the World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships held in Santa Fe, Argentina.

Ovalles, representing the Argentine national team and Club Ausonia, finished the race with a time of 1 hour and 37 seconds. The competition, sanctioned by World Aquatics, took place at the Parque del Sur lake and featured 273 athletes from 39 countries. The gold medal was won by Russia's Kira Guseva, followed by compatriot Anastasiia Siniakova in second place.

This achievement marks the first time an athlete from the San Juan province has reached a podium in a world championship debut. Ovalles is scheduled to compete in the 4x1500m mixed relays on Sunday, September 6.
