SoFi Technologies reports record earnings amid stock price stagnation
SoFi Technologies has reported record financial results for the second quarter, though its stock price has struggled to maintain momentum. Adjusted revenues increased 40% year-over-year, while adjusted EBITDA reached a record $358 million, a 44% increase. GAAP net income also rose 60% to $156 million, driven by member growth and cross-selling activities.
Despite these gains, the stock has faced resistance near the $20 mark. While the company raised its full-year revenue guidance, management opted not to increase EBITDA guidance, citing a shift in macroeconomic assumptions regarding potential interest rate hikes.
In the broader fintech sector, SoFi is competing with Happen Bank (formerly LendingClub) for dominance in the U.S. personal loan market. Both companies utilize technology to underwrite unsecured loans, targeting borrowers with mid-to-high FICO scores to disrupt traditional banking models.
