Sofia and Burgas compete to host Eurovision 2027 in Bulgaria

Bulgarian National Television (BNT) is currently evaluating two final candidates, Sofia and Burgas, to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. Following Bulgaria's victory in 2026, the decision on the host city has been delayed beyond the initial July deadline.

While Sofia was initially considered the strong favorite, recent reports suggest the competition has become a 50:50 split. Burgas offers a modern multi-purpose arena and coastal infrastructure, potentially allowing the event to function as a large seaside music festival.

BNT has denied rumors of political disagreement between its leadership and the national government regarding the choice of city. The broadcaster stated that "neither the director general nor other people involved in the Eurovision project have ever expressed a preference for Sofia or Burgas," and emphasized that the selection process is based on technical, logistical, and infrastructural evaluations. An official announcement is expected in the coming week.
