Authorities in Sofia have localized and neutralized a powerful GPS jammer in the Dragalevtsi district. The device caused signal interference affecting aircraft flying over the capital, television towers, and the area around Vasil Levski Sofia Airport.

Transport Minister Georgi Peev stated that while GPS signals were compromised, aviation safety was not impacted because aircraft can switch to conventional ground-based navigation systems. Sofia Airport officials confirmed that flight operations proceeded on schedule without disruption.

The operation was a joint effort involving the State Agency for National Security (DANS), the Communications Regulation Commission, and the Sofia Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and purpose of the device. While the device was found near a high-security complex, the manager of a local restaurant stated the equipment was not located within their specific premises.
