Sofia City Court awards Vasil Bozhkov compensation

The Sofia City Court has awarded businessman Vasil Bozhkov 3,000 euros in compensation for the violation of the presumption of innocence. The ruling follows a lawsuit against the prosecution regarding public statements made by former Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev and his spokesperson, Siika Mileva.

Bozhkov claimed that the public remarks made during investigations starting in late 2019 were intended to discredit him and damage his gambling business. While the businessman sought 200,000 BGN in damages, the court determined that the statements violated European Union rights regarding the presumption of innocence, resulting in the awarded euro amount.
