Sofia City Court continues Peyo Peev murder trial
The Sofia City Court is scheduled to hold a hearing on October 5, 2026, regarding the premeditated murder of 44-year-old Peyo Peev. The defendants in the case are Krasiemira T., the victim's mother-in-law, and Gabriela P., the victim's wife.
The crime occurred in early January 2024. Investigators determined that Peev was crushed and strangled in his own vehicle in front of a residential building in Sofia, following an escalation of a long-standing family conflict involving parental rights and paternity disputes. His body was later discovered in a burned-out car in the Vitosha area.
The ongoing trial involves the analysis of physical evidence, forensic medical reports, psychiatric evaluations, and testimony from dozens of witnesses. Recently, the defense has requested a relaxation of restrictive measures for the defendants, citing deteriorating health and childcare responsibilities, though these requests have been opposed by the prosecution. The case has previously drawn significant public attention and sparked peaceful protests demanding justice and maximum penalties.
